Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television anchor, journalist and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. After growing up with her family in New York City, Mitchell graduated with a BA degree in English literature from The University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started out as an TV reporter and radio reporter working in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In Washington, she was appointed general reporter by NBC News a year later. The first time she covered the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office in 1988. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and was named chief foreign affairs reporter in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell appeared as both a panelist and host on the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was on the panel at the 1988 debate with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was the Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contribution to the protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at the White House first for NBC News between 1981-1988, during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell reported on a variety of important stories, including the Iran-contra controversy and tax reform. She was with Ronald Reagan on numerous trips to international summits, and also reported often.
